Why are my test results not showing up on MyChart? ›

Some test results are not released to your MyChart account because of their sensitive nature. Your doctor determines which types of test results are able to be accessed through MyChart and which might require an in person conversation.

Multiple members of your care team may view MyChart messages in order to get an appropriate and efficient response; this may include nurses or advance practice clinicians other than your primary care provider (PCP).

Download the app today using the buttons below, or search for “MyChart” on the App Store or Google Play. Select “Johns Hopkins Medicine” from the drop-down menu once you've downloaded the app.

Your results may be delayed if the sample is inadequate (not enough blood), contaminated, or if the blood cells were destroyed for some reason before reaching the lab.

If results are concerning, they may call you or have a receptionist call to schedule an appointment. 15 A healthcare provider may also call to assure you everything is okay or discuss any needed follow-up tests.

Under the HIPAA Privacy Rule, laboratories will be required to provide patients with their completed test reports within 30 days of a request, but they will not be required to explain the results to patients.

Messaging your doctor can be a convenient way to get medical advice. You can send a note through MyChart whenever you have time – day or night – and your provider will typically reply in one to three business days.

All lab results are compared to a standard guideline for what is considered “within normal range.” These standards were developed as a guide but are not absolute. You will see an exclamation point (!) next to the result if it's outside of the normal range, but that isn't necessarily a cause for concern.

In MyChart, our information portal for patients, you can see most of your test results as soon as they're complete. This includes laboratory, cardiology, microbiology and most radiology results.

MyChart is a patient friendly portal provided by Epic, it's a great tool to review all the information required like the upcoming appointments, your visit information, medications, contacting your provider for any care related queries.

You may WITHHOLD notes or test results from MyChart by selecting “Manual Release” in Epic, BUT only for specific reasons, as follows: 1. Patient/Proxy Request. Any patient (or their authorized representative) may request results or notes NOT be released to MyChart.

Results for CT, MRI, and PET CTs are available after your physician reviews them or 48 hours after the exam, whichever occurs first. MyChart provides easy access to results and the ability to review them prior to your next appointment with your doctor.
